Directions to Washington State
GETTING TO WASHINGTON STATE:
The state is located in the extreme northwest corner of the contiguous United States. It is bordered by Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east and the Canadian Province of British Columbia to the north. The western side of the state is bordered by the Pacific Ocean.
DRIVING: All areas of the state can be reached by major Interstates or good state roads. Running north-south through the western part of the state is Interstate 5 which comes from Oregon and continues up to British Columbia where it becomes Canadian Highway 99. Another north-south route is Interstate 82 from Hermiston, Oregon, up through the tri-cities of Pasco, Richland and Kennewick. It continues north through Yakima eventually becoming Highway 97 and crossing Wenatchee, Chelan and the Okanogan Valley before reaching Canada. Interstate 90 runs east-west in the almost center of the state coming from Idaho, through Spokane in Eastern Washington and terminating in Seattle to the west. Other east-west highways are Highway 12 in the southern part of the state and Highway 2 in the northern part.
FLYING: There are major international airports in the Seattle Tacoma area (Western Washington) and Spokane in eastern Washington. Access to the state is also easy from Portland International in Portland, Oregon, just across the river from Vancouver, Washington (not Vancouver, BC) in the southern part of the state and from Vancouver, BC just across the border from Blaine and Bellingham, Washington in the northern region of the state. There are also jet serviced airports in Wenatchee, Yakima and the Tri-Cities.
RAIL: Amtrak provides passenger rail service north-south through Seattle-Tacoma and east-west through Spokane to Seattle.
Directions to Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier National Park is located in west central Washington about 48 miles southeast of Tacoma, Washington. The park is approximately a one to two hour drive from Seattle, Tacoma and Yakima, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Access to Mount Rainier National Park is found through four main park entrances:
Northwest Entrance at Carbon River
Northeast Entrance at Sunrise/White River
Southwest Entrance at Nisqually River
Southeast Entrance at Ohanapecosh
Other park roads are open only during the summer months.

From Seattle, Washington:
- Get onto I-5 South and continue through Tacoma, about 28 miles
- Take exit 127 for Washington-512 East toward Puyallup/South Tacoma Way
- Turn left onto Washington-512 East (signs for Puyallup), travel 0.7 mile
- Take the Steele Street exit
- Turn left onto Steele Street South, travel 0.5 mile
- Continue onto 116th Street South, travel 0.3 mile
- Continue onto Spanaway Loop Road South, travel 3.9 miles
- Spanaway Loop Road South turns left and becomes Washington-704 East, travel 0.6 mile
- Use the right 2 lanes to turn right onto Washignton-7 South
- Pass by South End Ace Hardware (on the left in 0.7 mi), travel 31.5 miles
- Continue onto WA-706, travel 10.2 miles
- Turn right onto Kernahan Road East/NF-52
- Continue to follow NF-52 for 21.7 miles
- Turn left onto Craig Road, travel 0.1 mile
- Turn left onto Cannon Road/NF-5290, travel 2.6 miles
- Turn left onto Richer Drive, travel 249 feet
- Turn left onto Mary Ln, travel 453 feet
- Turn right onto Fairway Drive
- Destination will be on the right in 427 feet
